PROFESSIONAL GLIMPSE
Mr. Syful Islam is a diligent artist. He was born on 12th August, 1946, in Meherpur, Kushtia. His father was a highly esteemed Muslim educationist and a writer in Kushtia in an undivided India. His close compatriots and academics were late Nasiruddin Ahmed, Kazi Motahar Hossain and Golam Mustafa.
Since his childhood, Syful Islam grew up with a natural flare for making art on paper and pulps. Consequently after his graduation in commerce, he started his carrier with a brush and paints. During the matured stages of his life, he devoted himself in his art and in the profession of painting. He made himself a master at Islamic Calligraphy on paper canvas and wood. In fact he is a pioneer of Islamic Calligraphy painting in Bangladesh. Syful excels at painting landscapes, still-life, modern compositions and portraits.
Syful Islam is his endeavor earned various distinctions Gold medal and professional appreciations. Besides blessings of many distinguished personalities of the nation and international fame and forum. Displayed various solo exhibitions of his paintings endowed him rewords form: (i) Honorable President’s Sheikh Mujibur Rahman offered him Special fellowship for training of fine art in Moscow, USSR in 1975 (ii) Invited to visit Malaysia in 1974 (iii) In Tehran, Iran in 2004 his Islamic Calligraphy was displayed in their Quran Show (iv) The then Prime Minister Mrs. Khaleda Zia honourable trim as a govt. delegate to perform Hajj in 2006 (v) Among others his pride enrollonent was, teaching oil painting to Sheikh Hasina in 1994 (vi) Founded 1st Art Gallery Desh Art Gallery in 1972 in Dhaka.
He painted 1st life size oil portrait of the father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1972 the National Assembly Building, Bangladesh. In 1981 Syful started teaching painting and drawing to the interested boys and girls local and foreigner under the banner of Cezanne Art School which was continue 30 years. Hundred, Thousand Students irrespective ages and classes got the smell of fine art. He founded his own Art Gallery in the Name of Cezanne Art Gallery in 1987 at Banani.
PERSONAL GLIMPSE
Above at Mr. Syful Islam is a loving husband inspiring father. His only son and two daughters are engineers by profession. Himself a gentle, compassionate, amiable and ardent lover of art and paintings. He wants to leave an enriched faculty and gallery of art and painting for future generations.
